PESHAWAR: Barrister Dr. Muhammad Ali Saif, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, has said that Islam is a religion of peace and harmony. The essence of Islamic teachings lies in rising above personal interests, serving humanity, strengthening one’s character, and promoting justice and love in society. He expressed these views while addressing a seminar titled “Promotion of Social and National Harmony and Peace” held on Thursday at the District Council Hall, Abbottabad. The seminar was organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Centre of Excellence on Countering Violent Extremism (KPCE-CVE) in collaboration with NACTA and the Abbottabad district administration. The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Captain (R) Sanaullah Khan, religious scholars from various schools of thought, professors, students, and officers from different government departments. Barrister Dr. Saif stressed that if we live our lives according to the teachings and exemplary character of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), we will surely move toward worldly success and salvation in the Hereafter. He said that the foundation of Islam is justice, and in a just society, people prioritize the rights of others over their own. He added that hatred and injustice lead societies toward destruction, while the most valuable trait for humans is the elevation of character, referred to in the Qur’an as Taqwa — the ability to distinguish between good and evil. A nation with high moral standards will produce righteous leaders. Barrister Dr. Saif warned against considering oneself superior and more deserving than others, saying such attitudes breed hatred. He emphasized the importance of working for others’ well-being, which leads to internal peace and moral strength. He further stated that a person with strong character follows the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) not only in public but also in private life, earning respect in both the eyes of God and people. He urged the youth to strengthen their character to achieve success, unity, tolerance, and love in society. Addressing religious scholars and teachers, he encouraged them to promote the Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings, eliminate lies and mockery, and instill love and respect for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in people’s hearts. In his address, Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Sanaullah Khan lauded the people of Abbottabad for playing a key role in maintaining peace in the region, which attracts a large number of tourists to its scenic destinations. Additional Director General KPCECVE Muhammad Kashif Irshad, Director Admin Waqar Khan, religious scholars, and members of civil society also addressed the seminar. At the end of the event, Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Sanaullah Khan presented a commemorative souvenir to Barrister Dr. Muhammad Ali Sai
