Peshawar: A budget orientation session was held for members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly to provide awareness regarding the fiscal year 2025–26 budget and the national economic situation. The session was organized with the support of the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) and the “Mustahkam Parliament” program at a private hotel in Peshawar.

The objective of the session was to enhance members’ understanding of budget-making, legislation, and policy formulation. According to the vision of KP Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, such workshops play a vital role in building the technical capacity of assembly members and ensuring transparency and effective legislation.

Deputy Speaker Surayya Bibi represented the Speaker and delivered the opening address. She stated that the session had been designed to provide insight into the budget, the current economic conditions, and their potential impact on the provincial budget. She expressed hope that by the end of the session, all participants would be well-informed about the key aspects of the 2025–26 budget.

The session began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by an overview of the session’s structure, objectives, and significance.

On the occasion, various experts gave comprehensive briefings on the key features of the 2025–26 budget, challenges facing the national economy, and their implications for the budget.

Assembly members found the session beneficial and stated that such workshops help make the legislative process more effective.
