PESHAWAR: Capital City Police Peshawar Chief Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad held a special meeting with chairpersons and members of Dispute Resolution Committees (DRCs) from across the district and appreciated their role in resolving public disputes through mutual consent and traditional Pashtun methods.
Addressing the gathering, CCPO Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad said that DRCs, established in accordance with centuries-old Pashtun traditions and customs for the peaceful resolution of disputes, have produced highly encouraging results. He praised the DRC members for their commendable performance.
SSP Operations Farhan Khan, SP Cantt Division Muhammad Junaid Kharl, SP Faqirabad Division Ali Hamza Butt and other police officers were also present on the occasion.
The CCPO said that the performance of DRCs in Peshawar has been encouraging, adding that thousands of disputes have so far been resolved amicably with the mutual consent of the parties. He said the public’s growing trust in and increasing reliance on DRCs is clear evidence of their importance and effectiveness.
He added that the establishment of DRCs has provided aggrieved citizens with speedy, affordable and dignified justice at their doorstep, which is a major achievement. Resolving disputes through mutual consent is a clear example of the success of these committees.
Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad expressed confidence in the DRC members and urged them to continue making fair and impartial decisions while serving citizens and the parties involved, saying they must live up to the public’s trust.
In view of the effectiveness of DRCs, the initiative has been expanded to more police stations so that residents of remote and surrounding areas can also benefit from the facility. The CCPO said that the Capital City Police is committed to protecting the lives and property of citizens and making the best possible use of available resources for public service.
