ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain met ILO Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo in Islamabad and discussed strengthening cooperation in employment, skills development, labour migration and workers’ rights.
Both sides agreed to enhance efforts to equip Pakistan’s workforce with internationally aligned skills and improve opportunities for Pakistani workers in the global labour market. The ILO assured Pakistan of continued support for workforce development and workers’ protection.
The meeting also discussed fair and dignified migration, protection of digital workers and Pakistan’s active role in the ILO. Grants and scholarships were also distributed among workers’ representatives.
