BANNU: Details of the suicide bombing carried out by Khawarij elements near Fateh Khel Police Station in Bannu on May 9, 2026, have emerged.
According to reports, police personnel intercepted a suspicious vehicle moving towards a civilian-populated area near the police station. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suicide attacker detonated explosives inside it.
The powerful blast caused the roof of the Fateh Khel Police Station to collapse and also damaged several nearby civilian houses.
As a result of the roof collapse and explosion, 13 police personnel and civilians lost their lives, while six others sustained injuries, including three civilians.
The attack triggered strong anger and condemnation among the people of Bannu, who demanded strict action against the perpetrators from the security forces.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, while security measures in the area have been further intensified.
