PESHAWAR: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has officially launched the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2025. Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur launched the campaign by planting a sapling on the lawn of the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar on Wednesday.
Senior officials from the Forest Department briefed the Chief Minister on the campaign’s objectives, informing him that a total of one million saplings will be planted across the province. Among these, 184,000 fruit-bearing trees will be planted in addition to regular saplings.
According to the plan, the Forest Department itself will plant over 700,000 saplings, while more than 250,000 saplings will be distributed among the public for planting. Region-wise targets include 367,000 saplings in the Malakand Forest Region, 475,000 in the Northern Region, and 149,000 in the Central South Forest Region.
Talking on this occasion, the Chief Minister emphasized the vital importance of forest conservation and expansion in combating the challenges of climate change. He said the provincial government is pursuing a comprehensive strategy for forest protection and afforestation, under which the monsoon plantation drive holds special significance. He urged the public to actively participate in the campaign and help ensure its success. “Tree plantation is a national duty,” the Chief Minister stated. “The people must become partners in this effort and play their part in ensuring a clean and healthy environment for future generations.” He expressed thr hope that through collective effort, the vision of a Clean and Green Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can soon become a reality.
