PESHAWAR – Former Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Engineer Shaukatullah, has stated that the economic and trade relations between Pakistan and China can lead to enhanced bilateral trade and economic stability, with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) playing a pivotal role in this regard.
He expressed these views during his visit to the Chinese cultural center China Window in Peshawar. The former governor toured various galleries of the center, signed the Friendship Wall, and recorded his impressions in the guestbook, calling the Pakistan-China friendship a matter of pride.
Speaking to the media, Engineer Shaukatullah remarked that following the recent visit of Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to China, the pace of work on the second phase of CPEC would accelerate, law and order would improve, and economic activity across Pakistan would gain momentum.
He added that during the Field Marshal’s meetings with the Chinese leadership, discussions focused on the changing political landscape at regional and global levels, connectivity projects under CPEC, and the need for coordinated efforts to address joint geopolitical challenges, which are expected to yield positive outcomes.
The former governor praised the reaffirmation of mutual sovereignty, multidimensional cooperation, and long-term regional stability in the context of Pakistan-China friendship. He noted that with Afghanistan’s inclusion in CPEC, the strategic importance of Peshawar and the entire province has increased significantly.
Engineer Shaukatullah expressed confidence that in the future, CPEC would attract global investment including from China, and provide employment opportunities for millions. He termed China Window as a vital center of Pak-China friendship in Peshawar.
It is worth mentioning that Engineer Shaukatullah is the eighth governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to visit China Window, which truly reflects the strong brotherly ties between Pakistan and China.
