PESHAWAR: Former Governor Haji Ghulam Ali and Mayor of Peshawar Haji Zubair Ali held farewell and welcome meetings at the U.S. Consulate in Peshawar with outgoing Consul General Shante Moore and newly appointed Consul General Thomson Weckert.

Former Governor Haji Ghulam Ali stated that the diplomatic services rendered by Shante Moore for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly for the citizens of Peshawar, will always be remembered. He added that during her tenure, Moore played a positive role in strengthening relations between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the United States, while her keen interest in underdeveloped areas, education, and health was highly commendable. He expressed hope that upon her return to Washington, she would continue to be an effective voice for the development and prosperity of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The meeting was marked by hospitality and warm fraternal sentiments. In a gesture of traditional hospitality on behalf of the people of the province, both leaders presented the Consul General with gifts, including carpets, mangoes, and an honorary shield.

Mayor of Peshawar Haji Zubair Ali also appreciated the services of Shante Moore, saying that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will remember her cooperation and constructive efforts. He added that such relations help strengthen people-to-people ties between both nations.

During the meeting, best wishes were also extended to the newly appointed Consul General, Thomson Weckert. Both Haji Ghulam Ali and Haji Zubair Ali expressed hope that the new Consul General, like his predecessor, would continue to promote friendly relations between Pakistan and the United States and play a role in addressing the issues of the province’s people.

On the occasion, both outgoing and incoming U.S. Consuls General expressed gratitude to the former Governor and the Mayor of Peshawar for their visit and the traditional gifts.
