RAWALPINDI: 123rd Midshipman and 31st Short Service Commission Course Commissioning Parade held at Pakistan Naval Academy Commissioning Parade of 123rd Midshipmen and 31st Short Service Commission Course was held at Pakistan Naval Academy Karachi.
Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir attended the occasion as a special guest. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf welcomed the special guest on his arrival at the Naval Academy.
The commissioning term of the 123rd Midshipmen and 31st Short Service Commission Course included 127 midshipmen, including 19 from Bahrain, 4 from Iraq and 2 from the State of Palestine. Furthermore, 23 cadets of the Short Service Commission Course were also part of the commissioning term.
Addressing the parade, the special guest congratulated the commissioned officers and their families. He appreciated the Naval Academy for providing quality training to the cadets of Pakistan and friendly countries. The special guest said Pakistan Naval Academy has been providing excellent professional training to cadets of friendly countries. The presence of cadets from Bahrain, Iraq, State of Palestine, Republic of Djibouti and Republic of Turkey in today’s commissioning parade is a manifestation of the high training standards of Pakistan Naval Academy. Furthermore, highlighting the professionalism of Pak Navy. Pakistan Navy’s efforts to ensure the protection of global sea lines of communication as a critical regional naval force have been long-term, the special guest said. He highlighted the recent tensions in Pak-India war and that Operation Banyan Al-Marsoos. During that time, Pakistan’s armed forces demonstrated an immediate and decisive response against an enemy many times larger than itself in numerical credibility. This action is a clear proof that Pakistan is fully prepared and committed to safeguarding its national integrity and sovereignty.
Earlier in his reception speech, Commandant Pakistan Naval Academy Commodore Tasawwar Iqbal highlighted the remarkable nature of the academic and vocational training of cadets in the academy. He emphasized on preparing officers with strong faith, character and an unwavering dedication to the motherland.
Later, the special guest distributed prizes among the outstanding performance cadets. Midshipman Abdul Rehman was awarded the honorary sword for his overall best performance, while Midshipman Shayan-e-Hashmat received the Academy Dirk. Officer Cadet Muhammad Uzair Abbas was awarded the Chairman Joint. Chief of Staff Committee Gold Medal, while Officer Cadet Chaudhry Muhammad Izaz Tahir of SSC Course was awarded with Commandant Gold Medal. The professionalism banner was named after Quarter Deck Squadron.
The event was attended by a large number of foreign delegates, government officials, Pak Navy and other defense forces officers and their families of commissioning officers.
