PESHAWAR: The four-day Sports Festival for Orphans and Destitute Children, organized under the auspices of the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, concluded with a grand and colorful closing ceremony at Zamong Kur Peshawar.

Children from various districts of the province actively participated in different sports and recreational activities, enjoying the event and showcasing their talents in a joyful and encouraging environment. The closing ceremony was held at the Model Institute for State Children, Zamong Kur, with Secretary Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Asif Khan as the chief guest. He distributed trophies and cash prizes among the winning players.

Prominent officials present on the occasion included DG Sports Tashfeen Haider, Director Zamong Kur Sadaqatullah, Director Operations Jamshed Baloch, Chief Coach Shafqatullah, and other notable personalities.

The ceremony featured cultural and traditional dances representing all four provinces, along with other entertainment activities, which were warmly appreciated by the children and the audience.

Addressing the gathering, Secretary Sports Muhammad Asif Khan reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting talented children and announced the establishment of a synthetic court at Zamong Kur Peshawar. He also announced cash prizes of Rs. 50,000 for winners, Rs. 40,000 for runners-up, and Rs. 30,000 for third position holders, adding that special sports events for state children would continue in the future.

According to the results of the festival competitions:

In Cricket (Junior), SOS secured first position, while Akhpal Kur Swat finished runner-up.
In Cricket (Senior), Zamong Kur DI Khan won the title, with Zamong Kur Swat as runner-up.
In Tug-of-War, Zamong Corps Peshawar won gold, while Zamong DI Khan claimed silver.

In Volleyball, Zamong Corps DI Khan secured first position, followed by Zamong Kur Peshawar.

In Athletics (Junior), Saeed secured first place, Naimat second, and Akhtar Gul third, while in the Senior category, Bilal won gold, Yahya silver, and Usman bronze.
In Running events, Razaullah clinched first position, followed by Muhammad Sameen and Adnan.
In the Cone Race, Akhtar Gul secured first, Ibrahim second, and Irfan third place.
In the Sack Race, Bilal won gold and Nasir silver, while in the Junior Sack Race, Mohsin claimed gold, Saddam silver, and Sangin bronze.
In Musical Chairs, Hasnain of Akhpal Kor Swat secured first position.
In Archery (Junior), Sinan won gold, Bilal silver, and Adnan bronze, while in the Senior category, Dawood secured first place, followed by Hassan Ali and Sohail.

The successful conclusion of the festival highlighted the importance of sports in the physical and social development of orphaned and destitute children across the province.
