ISLAMABAD: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi met with Turkiye’s Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Irfan Neziroglu here on Tuesday, where both sides discussed Pakistan–Turkiye relations, mutual cooperation, and a range of bilateral issues.

During the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Turkiye.

Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, education, and cultural exchanges, with special emphasis on enhancing economic linkages between Turkiye and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Governor Kundi said that Turkiye had strongly supported Pakistan during past conflicts with India and stressed the importance of engaging the younger generation in promoting Pakistan–Turkiye friendship.

He proposed initiating visits of traders and students from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Turkiye, alongside exchanges of cultural and literary delegations to deepen people-to-people contacts.

He also highlighted significant potential for agricultural development and investment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and suggested declaring Peshawar as a sister city with a major Turkish city to strengthen municipal-level cooperation.

The Turkish Ambassador welcomed the proposal and assured that efforts would be made to establish a sister-city relationship for Peshawar.

He also expressed Turkiye’s readiness to support training opportunities for Pakistani youth in information technology and modern technologies.

Dr. Irfan Neziroglu praised Pakistan’s Prime Minister Youth Programme, calling it an effective initiative for youth development, and said cooperation between the two countries would continue to expand in education, technology, and capacity building sectors.

The meeting was also attended by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Parliamentary Leader Ahmed Kundi.
