In the wake of recent unrest, bombings, and public anxiety in Bajaur, a significant and comprehensive Grand Peace Jirga was convened to formulate a collective strategy for restoring peace in line with tribal traditions.
The jirga was organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Bajaur and held at Jamia Ihya-ul-Uloom, Khar. It witnessed broad participation from MPA Nisar Baz, MPA and DDAC Chairman Dr. Hameed, representatives of all political parties, civil society organizations, tribal elders, religious scholars, and people from all walks of life.
During the jirga, various political and social leaders thoroughly discussed the prevailing law and order situation and presented their perspectives. The speakers unanimously emphasized that sustainable development in Bajaur hinges on lasting peace, which can only be achieved through mutual unity, collective awareness, and serious action.
At the conclusion of the gathering, a collective prayer was offered for the martyrs of recent terrorist attacks in the region. Participants agreed that silence is no longer an option and that concrete measures are needed to prevent further bloodshed.
The most significant and positive outcome of the jirga was the announcement of a major Peace Procession (Aman Pasoon) to be held on Sunday, July 13, at the Bajaur Sports Complex. Extensive preparations are underway to ensure strong public participation.
This procession will not only serve as a peaceful message for peace but also as the collective voice of the people of Bajaur, who are now clearly stating: “We want peace!
