ISLAMABAD: On the occasion of the International Day of Parliamentarians, Humayun Khan emphasized the pivotal role of parliaments in strengthening democratic institutions, promoting peace, and ensuring accountability across societies.
“Parliaments are the cornerstone of democratic systems,” Khan stated. “They provide a vital platform for representation, debate, and decision-making, serving as a bridge between citizens and their governments.”
He highlighted the importance of ensuring that the voices of the people are heard and that their interests are effectively represented through legislative bodies. Khan also paid tribute to the tireless efforts of parliamentarians around the globe who continue to uphold the principles of democracy, transparency, and accountability.
“A strong and effective parliamentary system is essential for building a stable, robust, and prosperous society,” he added.
Khan acknowledged the ongoing commitment of parliaments to foster dialogue, cooperation, and consensus, even in the face of significant political and social challenges.
