Bibi Asifa Congratulates Morocco’s First Female PM

RABAT: His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco has appointed Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, coordinator of the collective leadership of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), as Head of Government and entrusted her with forming a new government.
The appointment was made during a Royal Audience at the Royal Palace in Rabat on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery.
The appointment was made in accordance with Article 47 of the Moroccan Constitution.
Speaking to the press after the Royal Audience, El Mansouri said she was honored by the appointment and would work to propose a government that meets the expectations of King Mohammed VI and Moroccan citizens.
She said the Royal Audience provided an opportunity to receive the King’s guidelines for managing the coming phase.
El Mansouri described her appointment as a historic moment, noting that she is the first woman to head the Moroccan government. She said the milestone was a source of pride for her and Moroccan women and carried a message encouraging women to contribute to building society alongside other sectors.
The statement also highlighted the progress made by Moroccan women since King Mohammed VI ascended the throne in 1999, including legal, political, economic and institutional reforms. These included the 2004 reform of the Moudawana, greater representation of women in institutions and increased access to positions of responsibility.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s First Lady Bibi Asifa Bhutto Zardari congratulated El Mansouri on her historic appointment.
She expressed hope that the milestone would inspire women across the Muslim world to pursue leadership roles and contribute to the progress and prosperity of their societies.
The First Lady said she felt a special connection with the historic development as the daughter of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Pakistan’s former prime minister and the first female prime minister in the Muslim world.
Bibi Asifa Bhutto Zardari said her mother’s pioneering political journey continues to inspire generations of women in Pakistan, the Muslim world and beyond.
She conveyed her warm greetings and best wishes to Prime Minister El Mansouri and the people of Morocco, expressing hope for her success in her new responsibilities.
