PESHAWAR: A high-level delegation led by Prof. Dr. Nusrat Shah, Vice Chancellor, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU), Larkana, visited Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, on a benchmarking visit to study the University’s best practices in academic quality, digital governance, examination management, and educational research.
The delegation included Prof. Dr. Waseem Abbas, Director Institute of Pharmacy; Mr. Altamash Sheeraz, Director Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC); Mr. Ahmed Bux Dahani, Additional Controller of Examinations; and Mr. Farooq Ali Bhutto, Deputy Director IT. The delegation was warmly Welcomed by Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq, Vice Chancellor, KMU, and senior university officials.
During the visit, Prof. Dr. Zille Huma, Director Academics & Admissions, briefed the delegation on KMU’s academic framework, digital transformation initiatives, and innovative administrative practices. The delegation also visited the University’s Computer-Based Examination (CBE) System, e-Office, Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), research laboratories, and examination facilities to observe KMU’s quality assurance, research governance, paperless administration, and digital examination systems.
Welcoming the delegation, VC KMU Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq emphasized that collaboration among Pakistan’s universities is vital for advancing excellence in medical education, research, innovation, and institutional development through the exchange of knowledge and best practices.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Nusrat Shah said that while learning from internationally renowned institutions remains important, Pakistan’s universities also possess valuable expertise that should be shared through mutual cooperation. She added that collaboration among sister universities would strengthen higher education, research, and academic excellence nationwide.
On the occasion, KMU and SMBBMU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote collaboration in academic quality assurance, digital governance, educational research, faculty and student development, examination systems, innovation, joint research, and institutional capacity building.
The delegation appreciated KMU’s achievements in academic excellence, digital innovation, and research management, expressing confidence that the visit and the MoU would strengthen long-term collaboration, mutual learning, and institutional excellence between the two universities.
