ISLAMABAD: A grand ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China was organized by KP Assembly and China Window at KP House Islamabad, where Babar Saleem Swati participated as the Chief Guest.
The event was attended by distinguished diplomats, members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, provincial ministers, cultural personalities, and guests from various walks of life. Among those present were Provincial Minister Nazeer Abbasi and Members of the Provincial Assembly Akbar Ayub Khan, Asif Mehsud, Ikram Ullah Ghazi, Faiza Malik, Anwar Khan and Sonia Shah. Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Syed Wiqar Shah, along with officials of the Assembly’s Public Relations, Media, Protocol and other relevant departments, also attended the ceremony.
The ceremony commenced with the national anthems of Pakistan and China, followed by a documentary presentation highlighting the longstanding and historic friendship between the two countries. Administrator of China Window, Amjad Aziz Malik, welcomed the guests and delivered an address emphasizing the importance of cultural diplomacy in further strengthening Pakistan-China relations.
A special song produced to commemorate 75 years of Pakistan-China friendship was formally launched during the ceremony. The song, based on Pashto poetry with Chinese and Urdu subtitles displayed on screen, received immense appreciation from the audience. Renowned artists and cultural performers presented musical performances, including a Pashto song celebrating the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Chinese Cultural Counsellor Chen Ping also addressed the gathering and highlighted the deep-rooted friendship and strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China, describing the bilateral relationship as a model of mutual trust and shared prosperity.
Addressing the ceremony, Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Babar Saleem Swati said that Pakistan-China friendship has successfully stood the test of time for 75 years and continues to grow stronger with every passing decade. He termed the relationship between the two countries a shining example of sincerity, trust, mutual respect, and strategic cooperation.
The Speaker stated that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a manifestation of the shared vision of prosperity between the two countries and noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa occupies a vital position in this transformative initiative. He emphasized that Pakistan and China share a common vision for regional peace, connectivity, and stability.
Highlighting the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, the Speaker referred to his recent visit to Kashgar and Ürümqi, where discussions were held to enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, tourism, education, and cultural exchange. He particularly mentioned progress toward establishing sister-city relations between Peshawar and Ürümqi, and Abbottabad and Kashgar.
The Speaker appreciated the efforts of China Window in promoting cultural harmony through music, literature, and art. He also paid tribute to renowned poet Professor Dr. Abaseen Yousafzai and singers Dr. Irfan Khalil and Yamsa Noor for their contributions in producing the commemorative friendship song.
On the occasion, a commemorative souvenir was presented and shared among distinguished guests, while a cake-cutting ceremony was also held to celebrate the 75 years of enduring diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
The ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment to further strengthen people-to-people contacts, cultural exchanges, and strategic cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
