BUNER: The foundation stone of an important road construction and improvement project was laid in District Buner on Saturday as part of ongoing efforts to enhance public facilities and promote regional development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan, formally inaugurated the Main Sar Qila to Etay Khwara road project.

The project will be completed under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) at an estimated cost of Rs1,424.750 million. It is expected to significantly improve transportation facilities in Buner and Shangla districts and help ease travel difficulties faced by the local population.The project will be executed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority.

A dignified inauguration ceremony was held with the provincial minister as the chief guest. Among those present were Azmat Khan, brother of PTI Chairman and MNA Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, along with Bakhrad Khan, Waqar Khan, Zaran Khan, Shakeel Khan, Jameel Chairman, Abdul Ameen Chairman, Zubair Chairman, former Tehsil Nazim Chagharzai Haji Sharif Khan, Yahya, Sher Malik Chairman, Shahid Khan, Al-Qiyas and other party office-bearers. A large number of local elders and workers also attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, the provincial minister said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was taking practical steps to provide better transport facilities and bring underdeveloped areas into the mainstream of development.

He said the completion of the project would not only provide comfortable and improved travel facilities to the people of Buner and Shangla but also contribute to the growth of the regional economy.

He added that transparency and quality were being ensured in development projects to provide durable and reliable facilities to the public.

The minister said it was the vision of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan to serve the people in real terms, and under this vision, the provincial government led by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi was working on sustainable public welfare projects with long-term benefits.

He added that the pace of development and public welfare in Buner and PK-26 would be accelerated and the approved projects would bring visible improvements across different sectors.

Other speakers also addressed the ceremony and termed the project a positive step towards the development of the area.
