PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday paid glowing tribute to the martyrs of Police, saying their sacrifices for peace, the rule of law, protection of citizens and the fight against terrorism would always be remembered and honoured by the nation.
The Governor expressed these views during his visit to Police Lines Peshawar on the occasion of Youm-e-Shuhada-e-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, where he was received by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar Dr. Mian Saeed and senior police officials.
Governor Kundi laid a floral wreath at the Police Martyrs’ Memorial and offered Fateha for the departed souls, praying for the elevation of their ranks.
Speaking on the occasion, and in his message issued to mark the day, the Governor said the martyrs of KP Police had written a remarkable chapter of courage, professionalism and selfless sacrifice in the country’s history through their unwavering commitment in the fight against terrorism.
He said the peaceful and stable environment enjoyed today was the result of the sacred blood of the police martyrs, adding that the entire nation saluted their courage, devotion to duty and unmatched sacrifices.
The Governor also paid tribute to the patience and resilience of the families of the martyrs, describing them as a precious national asset whose dignity, respect and welfare remained a collective responsibility.
Referring to the prevailing security situation, Governor Kundi said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was once again facing the designs of “Indian-sponsored Fitna Al-Khawarij,” which was attempting to undermine peace in the province. He said the KP Police had remained a solid wall against terrorism through exceptional bravery, professionalism and unwavering resolve.
He said several police personnel had embraced martyrdom in recent terrorist attacks, while timely, effective and decisive operations by the police had eliminated a number of terrorists, reflecting the high morale and determination of the force.
Expressing confidence in the success of the ongoing campaign against terrorism, the Governor said every officer and jawan of the KP Police was inspired by the spirit of sacrifice, patriotism and dedication to duty, which would continue to serve as the force’s strength until terrorism was completely eradicated.
He said the sacrifices of the police martyrs would pave the way for a peaceful, stable and prosperous Pakistan, adding that conscious and dignified nations never forget their martyrs.
The Governor assured the families of the police martyrs that the entire nation stood by them and that the sacrifices of their loved ones would never go in vain.
