PESHAWAR: The National Junior Championship 2026 concluded successfully at the Peshawar Sports Complex, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa delivering an outstanding performance across multiple disciplines.
More than 1,000 young athletes from across the country participated in the four-day event, competing in squash, athletics, volleyball, badminton, karate and table tennis.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa secured gold medals in athletics, volleyball, badminton and squash in the boys’ category, along with a silver medal in karate. In the girls’ category, the province won gold and silver in squash, and silver medals in athletics and table tennis.
Advisor to the Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand, attended the closing ceremony as chief guest and distributed trophies and medals among the winning athletes. Director Operations Jamshed Baloch, Nazia Zaki, Shah Faisal, Yousaf Afridi and officials from various sports federations and associations were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand said the successful organization of the championship was an important step toward promoting sports and identifying young talent. He praised the excellent performance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s athletes and reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to providing modern sports facilities and full support to youth, enabling them to excel at national and international levels and bring pride to Pakistan.
