CHITRAL: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday inaugurated the annual Shandur Polo Festival and reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to promoting tourism, sports and regional development in Chitral.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Governor said polo players were being provided full support and appreciated the efforts of the Tourism Department for successfully organizing the festival despite limited resources.
Provincial Minister for Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Tourism Adil Malik were also present on the occasion.
Kundi said the government would also work to promote the traditional sport of Buzkashi and announced plans to introduce further initiatives aimed at attracting more tourists to Chitral.
He said the inauguration of Chitral Airport would take place soon, which would help improve connectivity and boost tourism in the region.
The Governor said he would take up the issue of road restoration with the National Highway Authority and would also recommend to the provincial government measures for improving road infrastructure in the area.
