PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa trials for the upcoming National Muay Thai Championship have been successfully completed, with male and female athletes from across the province showcasing their skills.
The National Championship will be held in Lahore from August 22 to 24, featuring teams from all four provinces, Pakistan Army, Police, WAPDA, Railways, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Islamabad.
The KP trials were conducted at Gulbahar Club, where the following athletes were selected:
•Men’s Categories: Abu Bakr Khan (48 kg), Hameedullah (51 kg), Aminullah (60 kg), Manzoor Ahmed (67 kg), Saqib Ahmed (71 kg), Obaidullah (75 kg), Aqeel Khan (81 kg), and Obaidullah (81 kg).
•Women’s Categories: Nimra Bibi (48 kg), Urooj Bibi (51 kg), Bushra Bibi (57 kg), and Bakhtawar Bibi (weight category).
The team will be led by Coach Aminullah and Manager Inayatullah, under the supervision of KP General Secretary Inayatullah, Aminullah, and Wali Muhammad.
Speaking on the occasion, Inayatullah expressed confidence in the team’s performance: “God willing, our athletes will bring glory to the province by winning gold and silver medals for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
He also appealed to Provincial Sports Minister Fakhar Jahan and DG Sports to extend financial support to the players and provide essential kits including track suits, shoes, shorts, and shirts.
