PESHAWAR: A lacrosse clinic and training camp was held under the auspices of the Islamabad Lacrosse Association, in which more than forty players participated, with the aim of promoting this sport in the federal capital. The special guest of the event was Arif Mahmood, Secretary General of Rawalpindi Islamabad Sports Journalists Association (RISJA), who distributed prizes, shields and certificates among the players and appreciated their interest and hard work in promoting the sport. Sarmad Shabab, Director Technical and Taifur Zarin, Secretary Pakistan Lacrosse Federation were also present on the occasion, who briefed the players on basic skills such as passing, catching, cradling, shooting, defensive tactics and rules of the game.
Miss Chaman Mushtaq, Coordinator Islamabad Lacrosse Association, and Shafqat Niazi, Sports Officer Punjab Sports Department played an important role in organizing the clinic and training camp. International cricketer Mr. Arshad Bhatti also attended the event and expressed his support for the promotion of various sports in Pakistan. Chief guest Arif Mahmood appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Lacrosse Federation and Islamabad Lacrosse Association and said that introducing this fast-paced and exciting game among the youth is a positive step and such grassroots programs should be continued. The ongoing training camp at Nawaz Sharif Park will continue for a month, in which the players will be provided with regular practice, skill development and match playing opportunities.
