MARDAN:On the special directions of Syed Salar Jehan Bacha, President of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Lacrosse Association (KPLA), a grassroots development initiative for lacrosse has been launched across the province. As part of this initiative, a lacrosse clinic was successfully organized at Mardan Sports Complex.

Thirty female athletes actively participated in the clinic, gaining essential training and exposure to the sport of lacrosse. The event was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Sajid Shah, District Sports Officer (DSO) Mardan, who distributed certificates, souvenirs, and lacrosse sticks among the participants. During the ceremony, he appreciated the efforts of KPLA in promoting lacrosse and officially announced a Lacrosse Championship to be held in July at Mardan.

A Lacrosse Academy was also inaugurated at Mardan Sports Complex to provide regular training and grooming to aspiring lacrosse players. The event was also attended by Mr. Suleman Shah, Regional Sports Officer.

The workshop was organized by Miss Gul Pari, Captain of the Pakistan National Women’s Lacrosse Team and the winning team captain of the Okinawa Open Lacrosse Championship. Also present on the occasion were Syed Ilyas Shah, President of Mardan Divisional Lacrosse Association, Syed Ishaq Shah, and Engr. Taifoor Zarin.

This clinic marks a significant milestone in promoting women’s participation in sports and developing lacrosse in every district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
