Buner: On the directives of Chief Executive Officer PESCO Akhtar Hameed Khan and Director S&I Sattar Khan, Assistant Director S&I and FIA focal person Ishfaq Khan, along with his team, conducted major operations from May 11 to May 14 against electricity theft and non-payment of dues in District Buner.
The operations were carried out in various areas including Daggar, Tor Warsak, Elai, Swari, Mardan Road, and Diwana Baba Road. During inspections in Daggar I and Daggar II subdivisions, multiple serious irregularities were detected in electricity connections.
During the crackdown, cases of meter tampering, TDC (theft/detection cases), misuse of domestic tariff, and unbilled units were identified in various commercial and institutional setups. Notable cases included meter tampering at Shahnawara Hujra Restaurant and Kaka Fish Restaurant Elai, 3,140 units pending at Elai Medical Complex, 9,654 unbilled units at Ijaz Pharma Daggar, meter tampering at Peshawar Ice Cream and Hameed Sweets & Bakery, and TDC cases at Rehman Medical Center, Khalifa Malik Shop, Fazal Market, Buner Kabab Shop, and Inam Plaza.
Similarly, outstanding units included 3,522 at Karachi General Hospital, 5,923 at Sabar & Company Shop, 3,240 at Khan Motors, and 3,219 at Altaf Sweets & Bakery. Misuse of domestic tariff was also found at several locations.
During the operation, multiple tempered, shunted, and display-washed meters were removed on the spot, while several connections were immediately disconnected. Advance assessment bills were issued on-site, and a total recovery of Rs. 5,145,000 was made, including fines and outstanding dues.
PESCO and FIA officials stated that operations against electricity theft will continue in the future.
