PROVINCE REPORT

PESHAWAR : The Provincial Peace Message Committee of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has expressed deep concern over the rising incidents of terrorism and unrest in the province, vowing to play its role in eliminating terrorism and promoting peace and harmony.

Speaking to the media after the introductory meeting of the Provincial Peace Message Committee, its head and coordinator, Maulana Muhammad Tayyab Qureshi, said that the enemies of Pakistan had imposed a war on the country, which would be confronted with determination.

He said the basic objective of the committee was to bring scholars and representatives of all schools of thought onto a single platform. “Pakistan is our pride and Pakistan will always remain,” he said.

Maulana Tayyab Qureshi said that great sacrifices had been rendered for the establishment of Pakistan and that the country was created on the basis of the Two-Nation Theory. He added that attacks on the state and its people were haram (forbidden) and that this was a unanimous decision of senior religious scholars.

He said no one would be allowed to attack Pakistan and stressed that terrorism anywhere in the country was forbidden. “Religious scholars across the country have been targeted,” he said, adding that the committee would take the message of peace to every street and neighbourhood.

The committee chairman said that mosques, religious seminaries, churches and places of worship of minority communities would be utilized to promote peace and religious harmony.

He said the enemy had tried to undermine Pakistan on every front but had failed. “We will promote the state’s narrative of peace and love and work for the elimination of terrorism,” he said, adding that the committee would stand shoulder to shoulder with the security forces in the fight against terrorism.
