ISLAMABAD: Mehsud Welfare Association Pakistan (MWA) held its oath-taking ceremony at J7 Emporium, Islamabad, where the newly elected leadership assumed office. The event also featured several major announcements related to education, welfare, and the development of Waziristan.
The seven-member Executive Board took the oath under the supervision of Election Board Chairman, Retired Colonel Abdul Mateen. Dr. Noor Zaman was sworn in as Chairman, Advocate Irfanuddin as Vice Chairman, and Shamsullah as General Secretary.
During the ceremony, Dr. Ahmad Khan, CEO of Dakson Foundation, announced 78 new educational scholarships for deserving students, with a total value exceeding PKR 25 million. Participants described the initiative as a significant step toward empowering the youth of Waziristan through education.
To strengthen educational, administrative, and technical collaboration in the region, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with Dakson Institute of Health Sciences and HEADS.
In recognition of their outstanding contributions to the organization, the Mehsud community, and the education sector, former Chairman Sir Rehmat Khan Mehsud and former Vice Chairman Haji Jehangzeb Khan Burki were appointed as Honorary Patrons of the Association. In keeping with tribal traditions, both were honored with the ceremonial presentation of turbans.
The ceremony also highlighted the release of government funding for the Waziristan Education City project by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, describing it as a historic milestone expected to expand access to higher education and professional training in the region.
Members of the National Assembly Maulana Jamaluddin and Zubair Khan Wazir praised the welfare and educational services of the Mehsud Welfare Association, emphasizing that such organizations play a vital role in promoting education, social development, and self-reliance among the younger generation.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment by the Association to continue working for education, social welfare, and the sustainable development of Waziristan.
