Nation Honours Soldiers Martyred in 2022 Rescue Mission

ISLAMABAD: The nation on Saturday paid tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistan Army helicopter crash in Lasbela, marking the fourth anniversary of the tragic incident in which senior military officers lost their lives while leading flood relief operations.
The helicopter crashed on August 1, 2022, during a mission to assess rescue and relief activities for flood-affected communities in Balochistan’s Lasbela district.
Among those martyred were Lt Gen Sarfraz Ali, then Corps Commander Quetta, Brig Amjad Hanif, Brig Muhammad Khalid, pilot Maj Saeed Ahmad, Maj Muhammad Talha and Naik Mudassar Fayyaz.
The rescue mission was being led by Lt Gen Sarfraz Ali to ensure timely relief for flood victims. The tragedy drew nationwide grief and highlighted the sacrifices made by Pakistan Army personnel in humanitarian operations.
The Pakistan Army has reaffirmed its commitment to serving the nation in times of war, natural disasters and other emergencies, stating that the sacrifices of its personnel continue to reflect their dedication to protecting and assisting the people of Pakistan.
