ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, Wajeeha Qamar, has visited IRM head office in Islamabad and interacted with 75 aspiring young women trainees from Balochistan through Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP) under training by IRM in the RISE Project.
The RISE Project funded by the Government of Balochistan, executed the Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP), and implemented by the IRM as training partner. This initiative aims to equip young women with practical, market-oriented skills that can help them access employment, pursue self-employment, and build sustainable livelihoods.
The 75 trainees, belonging to Gwadar, Panjgur and Kech districts of Balochistan, are undertaking an intensive two-month residential training programme in Beautician and Cosmetology at IRM. The programme combines technical training with practical exposure and personal development, enabling participants to strengthen their professional skills and confidence and explore opportunities for economic independence, said a press release issued here on Wednesday.
During her visit, Minister of State Wajeeha Qamar held a highly interactive and engaging session with the women trainees. The young women shared their experiences, aspirations and plans for using their newly acquired skills upon returning to their communities. The discussion reflected their enthusiasm and appreciation for an initiative that has provided them an opportunity to learn, grow and prepare for a more economically secure future.
Addressing the trainees, the Minister encouraged them to make full use of the opportunity and to see skills development as a pathway towards confidence, dignity and economic empowerment. She appreciated the commitment of the young women who had travelled from different districts of Balochistan to participate in the programme and encouraged them to become role models and sources of inspiration for other women in their communities.
The Minister also appreciated the collaborative efforts of the Government of Balochistan, BRSP and IRM in creating meaningful skills development opportunities for women from underserved areas and stressed the importance of investing in young women as an investment in families, communities and the country’s future.
The event was also attended by Dr. Tahir Rasheed, Chief Executive Officer, BRSP; Dr. Roomi S. Hayat, Chief Executive Officer, IRM, along with senior representatives and officials of BRSP and IRM.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Tahir Rasheed highlighted Government of Balochistan’s commitment to expanding opportunities for young people, particularly women, in Balochistan through skills development and livelihood initiatives.
Dr. Roomi S. Hayat reaffirmed IRM’s commitment to ensuring that training goes beyond the classroom and translates into real economic opportunity. He emphasized that empowering women with practical and marketable skills has a multiplier effect, benefiting not only individual trainees but also their families and communities.
