Peshawar: The trophy of the 62nd National Badminton Championship was formally unveiled in Peshawar at a special ceremony, with Advisor for Sports and Youth Affairs, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand, attending as the chief guest.
The ceremony was attended by DG Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tashfeen Haider, Director Sports Integrated Districts Umar Arshad Khan, CEO Buraq Builders Ali Haider Babakhel, Assistant Director Finance Shah Faisal, General Secretary Provincial Badminton Association Mian Sadaqatullah, Chief Coach Shafqatullah, Regional Sports Officer Kashif Farhan, renowned singer and event ambassador Sehrish Khan, and Administrator Yousaf Afridi, along with other officials.
Addressing the gathering, Advisor for Sports Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand said that hosting the National Badminton Championship in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a matter of pride. He stated that such national-level events provide valuable learning opportunities and a platform for young players of the province to showcase their talent. He added that in line with the provincial government’s manifesto, quality sports facilities are being provided to athletes from all districts and full support will continue for the promotion of sports.
He expressed confidence that players from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will deliver outstanding performances in the championship. On the occasion, the provincial government also announced a grant of Rs 500,000 for the organization of the National Badminton Championship.
The 62nd National Badminton Championship will commence from February 1 at the Peshawar Sports Complex, with over 100 male and female players from across the country expected to participate.
