ABBOTTABAD: Several competitions have concluded in the 31st National Karate Championship and the 17th National Women’s Karate Championship currently underway in Abbottabad under the auspices of the Pakistan Karate Federation. The event is being held in collaboration with the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Karate Association.Provincial Minister for Sports Syed Fakhar-e-Jehan distributed prizes among the medal-winning athletes.According to the results of the men’s events In the 84 kg category, Muhammad Asim (Army) won the gold medal, Muhammad Asad (Railways) claimed silver while Zahid Rasool (Punjab) and Moiz Ali (Sindh) shared bronze In the above 84 kg category Mirza Zubair Ahmed (Punjab) secured gold, Adnan Ahmed (Army) won silver and Farooq Ahmed (Sindh) along with Baz Muhammad (WAPDA) earned bronze medals.In individual kata Irshad Ali (Army) won gold, Muhammad Shehbaz (WAPDA) took silver while Syed Kabir Ali (Sindh) and Shehram Hussain (Balochistan) earned bronze medals.In the team kata event the Army team comprising Irshad Ali, Saifullah, Waheedullah and Muhammad Faiz won gold. WAPDA’s team of Muhammad Shehbaz, Shehbaz Ahmed, Haris Nadeem and Gul Zaman won silver while bronze medals were awarded to the Balochistan team (Shah Waiz, Ghulam Mustafa Kasi and Shehryar) and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa team (Haris Habib, Waris Habib, Misbahullah and Abdullah).
In17th National Women’s Karate Championship under 68 kg category Mehar-un-Nisa (WAPDA) won gold, Maryam (Sindh) secured silver and Jaweria Fatima (HEC) won bronze.In the above 68 kg category Fakhar-un-Nisa (WAPDA) claimed gold, Arzoo (Army) secured silver while Ayesha Tariq (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) and Zainab Jamshed (Punjab) earned bronze medals.individual kata, Farishta (Army) won gold, Shazia (WAPDA) secured silver while Mehreen Sarwar (Punjab) and Saumiya Rafiqat (HEC) earned bronze medals.In team kata, the Army team comprising Farishta, Nazish, Aiman, and Zehra won gold. WAPDA’s team (Shazia, Razia, Salima and Shakira) took silver, while bronze medals were awarded to Balochistan (Umm-ul-Baneen, Mehbooba, Batool, and Khateema) and Punjab (Mehreen Sarwar, Zehra Batool, Hafiza Fasihah Saleem, and Nazish Nadeem).
So far in the women’s events, Army has won 2 gold and 2 silver medals, WAPDA has also won 2 gold and 2 silver medals, Punjab has secured 3 bronze, HEC 2 bronze while Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh have each earned 1 bronze medal.
In the men’s events, Army leads with 3 gold and 1 silver medal,Punjab has 1 gold and 1 bronze, WAPDA has 2 silver and 1 bronze,Railways has 1 silver, Sindh has 3 bronze,Balochistan 2 bronze and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1 bronze medal.
