ISLAMABAD: The National Logistics Corporation (NLC) and the Railway Division have signed a cooperation framework to further strengthen Pakistan’s multimodal transport and logistics network.
The framework was signed during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Railways, attended by Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi and senior officials of NLC and Pakistan Railways.
Under the framework, a comprehensive platform will be established for broad-based cooperation between the two organisations. The initiative will focus on exploring business opportunities, improving freight connectivity and developing an integrated transportation system to support national economic growth.
The cooperation aims to combine the capabilities and capacities of NLC and Pakistan Railways to promote efficient, sustainable and commercially viable logistics services. It will cover areas including logistics infrastructure, freight transportation and integrated supply chains.
Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi appreciated the longstanding cooperation between the two organisations and expressed confidence that the framework would help make the country’s freight transportation system more efficient and effective.
He also appreciated NLC’s valuable services and contribution to national development.
NLC and Pakistan Railways are already collaborating on the development of a multimodal logistics park and a dedicated freight corridor in Karachi. NLC is also among the major users of Pakistan Railways’ freight train services, reflecting the strong and longstanding partnership between the two organisations.
