PESHAWAR: A vibrant ceremony marking Olympic Day was held at the Peshawar Sports Complex under the auspices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association, celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship, unity, and youth engagement in healthy activities.

The event was graced by Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Tashfeen Haider, as the chief guest, who was warmly received by athletes and sports officials. Also in attendance were President of KP Olympic Association Haroon Zafar, Secretary Zulfiqar Butt, and senior office-bearers from various provincial sports associations.

Kifayatullah – Senior Vice President, KP Table Tennis Association Sarah Khan – President, KP Archery Association.
The event brought together a large number of athletes representing table tennis, archery, weightlifting, boxing, taekwondo, and lawn tennis. DG Sports Tashfeen Haider interacted with the athletes and participated in group photo sessions, commending their passion and dedication.

Speakers highlighted the global significance of Olympic Day, tracing its history and its role in promoting peace, inclusion, and fitness through sports. DG Tashfeen Haider, in his address, stated:

“The celebration of Olympic Day aims to encourage youth participation in healthy, competitive, and character-building activities. Events like this strengthen our resolve to develop a strong sporting culture in the province.”

President Haroon Zafar praised the efforts of the Provincial Olympic Association in organizing Olympic Day celebrations not only in Peshawar but in multiple cities across the country, reinforcing unity through sport.

The ceremony concluded with a symbolic Olympic Walk, in which all participants joined to reaffirm their commitment to the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship, and Respect.
