The main processions of the 9th Muharram-ul-Haram ended in D I Khan peacefully amid tight security arrangements, here on Saturday.
The first main procession of the 9th Muharram-ul-Haram “Alam-e-Abbas”, started at 7:00 AM in the morning from D I Khan’s Old and Central Imambargah Bammun Shah (Imam Hussain) which followed its traditional routes.
The main procession after passing through Hashmi Chowk, Hussaini Chowk, Imambargah Fazal Abbas, Imambargah Yalla Shah (Imam Zain ul Abideen), Imambargah Hazrat Abbas, Haideri Chowk, Alamdar Chowk, Mohallah Dr Jalal Hussain, Alamdar Chowk, Mohallah Ghayanwala, Imambargah Haider Shah Shirazi, ended at Jamia Masjid Latu Faqeer (Imam Ali) at 12:00 PM in the noon.
The processions from other Imambargahs in the city also joined the main procession at different points. The various small processions taken out from the suburbs of the city including Thala-I, Thala-II and Mohalla Qasaban also joined this main procession as it passed through different Imambargahs.
During the processions, the mourners recited Nohas and beat their chests for the martyrs of Karbala.
Langar and Niaz (meals) and Sabeel-i-Hussain (water distribution) were also arranged at different points on the way of the processions.
In Dera Ismail Khan, there were 3 big processions on the 9th of Muharram.
The first main procession “Alam-e-Abbas” started from the main and ancient Imambargah of D I Khan, Bammun Shah and ended at Jamia Masjid Latu Faqeer (Hazrat Ali) at 12 o’clock on the day.
The second Tazia procession took out near Liaquat Park after 2 pm and ended at Imambargah Samandah Wala at around 4 pm.
Similarly, the third main mourning procession will be started in the night from the main Imambargah Bammun Shah and after passing through its traditional routes, carrying two Tazias efrom Kapas Wali Gali and two Tazias from Pongran Wali Gali will pass through different areas of the city throughout the night and will eventually concluded at Imambargah Bammun Shah in the early morning prayers time.
Meanwhile,Commissioner Dera Zafarul Islam and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Syed Asfaq Anwar, DPO Dera Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada visited different Imambargahs, processions routes and Command and Control Center to take stock of security arrangements.
According to the police spokesman, the commissioner and RPO paid a surprise visit to Imambargah Yalla Shah (Imam Zain-ul-Abideen), different Imambargahs and routes of mourning processions to ensure foolproof security arrangements. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Dera Abdul Nasir Khan, DPO Dera sajjad ahmad Sahibzada and other officers were also present.
The visiting officers checked the security arrangements at Imambargahs and surroundings.
They also met with the custodians of Imambargahs and members of the Peace Committee to discuss the overall security arrangements of Imambargahs during the holy month of Muharram.
The organizers of Majalis and processions expressed their satisfaction over the security arrangements made by the police. They also assured of their full cooperation with the administration for peaceful conduct of Muharram.
Earlier, the commissioner and RPO also visited the Police Command and Control Center established in Ejaz Shaheed Police Lines Dera wherein they got briefed by DPO Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada and Incharge of the center DSP Legal Imran Kundi about the Majalis, processions and other religious rituals to be held in the Imambargahs during Muharram.
On this occasion, the commissioner and RPO also inspected the overall security measures taken for Muharram and monitoring of Imambargahs and procession routes through CCTV cameras. On which, they expressed their satisfaction.
Speaking on this occasion, both the officers also urged upon the citizens to fully cooperate with the administration and security agencies to maintain peace and order during Muharram so that the miscreants do not get any opportunity to disturb the peace of the city.
According to the police spokesman, the district had been divided into different zones and sectors with deploying over 9000 police officers and personnel at various places as part of a security plan to maintain peace during Muharram-ul-Haram in the district.
The police personnel are also deployed on the routes of the procession besides ensuring monitoring through CCTV cameras.
Different streets were sealed and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) swept the routes before and after the passage of processions.
The concerned police officials regularly pay visits to various places and procession routes to review security arrangements and ensure foolproof security.
