PESHAWAR: According to the spokesperson of the All Pakistan WABDA Hydro Electric Workers Union Khyber, in a tragic incident on June 21, 2026 at about 1:20 am, a resident of Charsadda and a lineman of Gulbela Sub-Division PESCO Peshawar, second-in-command, suffered a tragic electric accident while repairing a technical fault in the 11 KV line. Later, during surgery at the North West Hospital Peshawar, he lost both his hands and arms and was permanently disabled. He is still undergoing treatment in the ICU of the North West Hospital Peshawar. It is clear that the said lineman has five small children, including his only 9-year-old son. The provincial union has strongly demanded the government, Federal Minister for Energy and Power Division Owais Ahmed Leghari, Chairman PESCO BOD Himayatullah Khan and Chief Executive PESCO Akhtar Hameed to conduct an impartial investigation into the accident and reduce the work pressure on the field staff, as well as to immediately take action in PESCO in the best interest of consumers and PESCO. Thousands of vacant posts should be filled. While accident victims should be given privileges like security forces.
