PCP Inspects Abasyn, Iqra Universities to Ensure Pharm.D Standards
PROVINCE REPORT
ISLAMABAD: The Pharmacy Council of Pakistan (PCP) has introduced high-definition body cameras during institutional inspection visits to enhance transparency, accountability and compliance with regulatory standards in pharmacy education.
On October 13, a high-level inspection panel, acting under the special directives of the PCP President, visited Abasyn University and Iqra University’s Chak Shahzad Campus to assess educational infrastructure and verify the rectification of previously identified shortcomings.
The inspection team was led by Dr. Tahir Chohan and included PCP Secretary Dr. Nauman Rahim Khan and a nominee of the District Health Officer (DHO).
For the first time in the Council’s history, body cameras were deployed to record inspection proceedings in real time. According to the PCP, the initiative aims to ensure transparency, minimize subjective bias and maintain a digital record of inspection findings.
The Council said the visits were part of its efforts to ensure that Pharm.D programmes meet the prescribed regulatory requirements. It emphasized that only institutions complying with the required standards should be allowed to operate and enrol students.
The PCP reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards substandard educational infrastructure and statutory violations, stating that the enforcement of pharmacy education standards was essential to protecting public health.
