The second round of the President’s Trophy Grade II, managed by the Pakistan Cricket Board, has begun. Most of the matches were drawn due to rain in the first round. The match between Eshal Associates and JDW Sugar Mills at Haripur ended without any result. Eshal Associates scored 341 runs for the loss of six wickets in the first innings and 168 runs for the loss of four wickets in the second innings. The JDW team scored 277 runs in its single innings. The highlight of the match was the double century partnership for the first wicket between Eshal Associates openers Usman Khan and Ali Hassan Baloch. The two of them built a partnership of 209 runs for the first wicket. Usman Khan’s 107 runs included 14 fours and four sixes. The other opener Ali Hassan Baloch’s 109 runs included 15 fours and two sixes. Sardar Group defeated Port Qasim by four wickets. The match between HEC and Kingsman could not be completed. Railways defeated Ahmed Glass by 288 runs.
This tournament is the qualifying stage for the President’s Trophy Grade One First Class and List A President’s Cup. For the first time, the event has been divided into Gold and Silver categories, while the top 14 teams from the previous season have qualified for the Gold category. The Gold competitions have been divided into two pools. Pool A has Eshal Associates, JDW Sugar Mills, MIT Solutions, PHA Rawalpindi, Railways, Ahmed Glass and Kingsman Academy, while Pool B has Higher Education Commission, Kingsman, Wing 999 Sports, Ghani Institute, Sardar Group, Port Qasim and Vital Tea. Pool A matches will be played at Railway Cricket Stadium, Abbottabad and National Cricket Ground, Haripur, while Pool B matches will be held at Diamond Cricket Ground, Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium and Marghzar Cricket Ground.
