ASTANA: President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev issued a joint statement in Astana on May 28, 2026, highlighting the “Seven Pillars of Friendship and Good-Neighbourliness” between the peoples of Russia and Kazakhstan.
The joint statement emphasized that the world is currently facing rapid changes, growing instability, security challenges and a crisis of trust in international relations. Both countries stressed the need for a more just world order that supports sustainable development and global stability.
The two leaders reaffirmed that the relations between Russia and Kazakhstan are based on mutual respect, equal partnership, shared history and close cooperation.
The statement outlined seven key pillars aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, including shared history, Eurasian integration, border cooperation, economic partnership, cultural and linguistic diversity, youth and educational cooperation, and a shared vision for the future.
Both presidents expressed confidence that the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between Russia and Kazakhstan would continue to promote stability, trust and mutually beneficial development for both nations.
