PESHAWAR : President of the Peshawar Brick Kiln Association, Haji Jahangir Khan, has described the लगातार rise in coal prices as a serious threat to the brick manufacturing industry, warning that unless prices are brought under control, the brick kiln business could face a complete shutdown.
He said the unprecedented increase in coal prices has multiplied the cost of brick production, placing brick kiln owners under severe financial pressure. Rising production expenses and a continuous slowdown in business activities have made the future of the industry increasingly uncertain.
Haji Jahangir Khan stated that the brick manufacturing industry is not only a major source of income for business owners but also provides livelihoods to thousands of workers and their families. He warned that if the current situation persists, labourers, skilled workers and business operators associated with the sector will face serious economic difficulties.
He urged the federal and provincial governments to take urgent and effective measures to reduce coal prices, stabilise the market and address the challenges facing the brick kiln industry.
He further warned that failure to intervene in time could cause irreparable damage to the brick manufacturing sector, with far-reaching consequences for the construction industry and the economic future of thousands of families.
