PESHAWAR : SSP Mujeeb ur Rehman Khan, Campus Commandant, has said that a police uniform is a responsibility and a trust, and protecting students and maintaining a peaceful academic environment are among his top priorities.
In a media interview, he spoke about his educational background, police career and measures taken to improve security on the campus.
Born in 1969 in Daraz Khel Mandan, Bannu, SSP Mujeeb ur Rehman completed his early education in Bannu and North Waziristan. He secured first position in the eighth-grade examination across the agency and second position in matriculation. He later completed his FSc and BSc from Government Degree College Miranshah and earned an LLB from Gomal University. He obtained his law practice license in 1994.
He joined the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police in 1995 through the Provincial Public Service Commission and secured second position during his initial training in Hangu. In 2001, he stood first in the departmental Upper Course.
During his career, he served in various positions in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, the Special Branch, Hangu, Haripur, North Waziristan and Peshawar. He also represented the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police in United Nations peacekeeping missions in Europe for around two and a half years.
He was appointed Campus Commandant in October 2025. He said that after assuming charge, his focus was on strengthening communication with students and addressing their concerns promptly.
A Student Coordination Committee was formed to provide students with a direct channel to communicate their issues. He said campus police were working as a bridge between students and the university administration.
Regarding security, SSP Mujeeb said measures had been taken to restrict the entry of unauthorized persons and maintain a safe environment for students and teachers. He added that action was also being taken against drug use and drug dealing, with several suspects arrested and legal proceedings initiated.
He said cooperation between students, the university administration and police was essential for maintaining peace on campus.
“Students are like our own children and the future of the country,” he said, adding that the police should not only enforce the law but also help create an environment where students can focus on education and research without fear.
Reflecting on his long police career, SSP Mujeeb said he had always tried to perform his duties with honesty, integrity and dedication.
“A police uniform is a responsibility, a commitment and a trust. We must not step back from our duty even in difficult circumstances,” he said.
