PESHAWAR: General Secretary of CARE Welfare Organization Sultan Amir has expressed concern over the rising use of drugs among young people, calling for urgent efforts to prevent addiction and support affected individuals.
He said drug use often starts due to curiosity, peer pressure, entertainment or lack of awareness but can develop into a serious disorder affecting individuals, families and society.
Sultan Amir stressed that drug-affected people should not face hatred or social isolation. Instead, they need timely medical treatment, psychological counselling, family support and rehabilitation.
He said CARE Welfare Organization is providing drug treatment, rehabilitation and psychological support through its centres in Peshawar, Nowshera and Swabi, and has also worked with the government in this field.
He urged parents, teachers, religious scholars, civil society and young people to play their role in raising awareness and ensuring that affected individuals are taken to treatment centres without delay.
“Treatment for drug addiction cannot wait until tomorrow; it must begin today,” he stressed.
