CHAKDARA: Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North Emir Inayatullah Khan has said the party’s campaign against petroleum levy, taxes, inflation and rising electricity and fuel prices will continue with renewed organization and intensity.
Addressing a press conference in Chakdara, he said the Islamabad sit-in had been postponed from September 23 and would now be held in the first week of October. Before that, protests would be organized at district and tehsil headquarters across the province.
Inayatullah said the campaign was aimed at addressing public economic problems and was not directed against any individual or political party. He demanded relief from rising fuel prices and petroleum levy, reduction in unnecessary government expenditure and greater transparency in financial matters.
He also criticized additional taxes and customs-related measures in Malakand Division, calling for public consultation and a clear policy in view of the region’s economic circumstances.
He said JI would take its protest campaign to every tehsil headquarters before moving towards Islamabad with a larger public mobilization. He reiterated that the party would continue its constitutional, political and peaceful struggle for public rights and economic relief.
