DERA ISMAIL KHAN: DIG Jails Tahir Shehbaz visited District Central Jail Dera, where he was received by Superintendent Jail Ijaz Mehsud.
During the visit, the DIG Prisons carried out a detailed inspection of the under-construction new building as well as the old jail premises. He reviewed the pace of construction work, security arrangements, and facilities being provided to prisoners.
On the occasion, Superintendent Jail Ijaz Mehsud briefed the DIG on ongoing development projects and administrative affairs of the jail.
DIG Jails Tahir Shehbaz expressed satisfaction over the performance of the jail administration and the ongoing construction initiatives. He stated that providing prisoners with a better environment, basic facilities, and opportunities for rehabilitation remains the top priority of the prisons department.
He further said that completion of the new building would help improve administrative affairs and ensure better facilities for inmates.
During the visit, the DIG also inspected various barracks, met prisoners, listened to their issues, and issued on-the-spot directives for the immediate resolution of some problems.
