Peshawar: President of Peshawar Press Club, M. Riaz, formally inaugurated the “Ehsas Tree Plantation Campaign” by planting a sapling in the lawn of the Peshawar Press Club on the occasion of Pakistan Day.
On this occasion, Vice President of the Peshawar Press Club Zia-ul-Haq, senior analyst Rifat Orakzai, Vice President of the Khyber Union of Journalists Shehzad Ahmad, along with other senior journalists, were also present.
Highlighting the importance of the tree plantation campaign, President M. Riaz stated that, unfortunately, Pakistan is among the three to four countries currently facing severe environmental threats due to extreme climate change.
He noted that one of the major reasons behind these challenges is the indiscriminate cutting of trees and the lack of new plantation.
He assured full support from the journalist community for the tree plantation drive and expressed the resolve that if journalists and other influential segments of society actively participate in such campaigns, it will not only help protect the environment but also promote awareness and consciousness among the general public regarding the importance of tree plantation.
