RAWALPINDI: Security sources have confirmed that Afghan forces initiated unprovoked firing at several locations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, including Angoor Adda, Bajaur, Kurram, Dir, Chitral, and Baramcha (Balochistan).

According to security officials, the firing appeared to be an attempt to facilitate the infiltration of Khawarij formations across the border.

The Pakistan Army’s alert and vigilant posts immediately responded with a strong and effective counterattack, targeting several Afghan positions. The exchange of fire remains ongoing at certain points, sources added.

Due to Pakistan’s timely and forceful response, multiple Afghan border posts were destroyed, resulting in heavy losses on the Afghan side, including the deaths of several Afghan soldiers and Khawarij members.

Reports indicate that Taliban fighters abandoned multiple posts and fled the area, leaving behind numerous casualties.

This act of aggression from the Afghan side comes notably at a time when the Afghan Foreign Minister is visiting India, raising concerns over the timing and motives behind the attack, security sources stated.
