DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Five officials, including four Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) employees and a Highway Traffic Police official, were martyred while another police official was injured in two separate terrorism incidents in Dera Ismail Khan.
The first incident occurred near Mufti Mahmood Chowk within the limits of Shorkot Police Station, where unknown terrorists opened fire on a Highway Traffic Police check post. As a result, 34-year-old driver Habib, son of Sabz Ali Marwat, was martyred, while Head Constable Muhammad Subhan sustained injuries and was shifted to hospital.
In the second incident near Qureshi Mor and Abhaya Bridge, unknown armed terrorists targeted FBR personnel performing duty within the limits of Gomal University Police Station. Four FBR employees were martyred, including two permanent and two contract employees.
The deceased FBR officials were identified as 29-year-old Waseem, 37-year-old Rehmatullah, 25-year-old Salman Ilahi and Muhammad Owais.
Following the attacks, police and security agencies intensified security across Dera Ismail Khan and adjoining areas and launched a search operation to trace the attackers.
Funeral prayers of the martyred officials were later offered at Police Lines Dera Ismail Khan with official honours. Senior police, civil and military officials attended the funeral prayers.
