PESHAWAR: The first edition of the Khyber Polo Festival 2026 concluded in Peshawar with great enthusiasm, cultural splendor, and traditional fervor, marking the city’s first-ever freestyle polo festival.

The final match of the festival was played between traditional rivals Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan. In a tough and thrilling contest, the Gilgit-Baltistan team displayed excellent sportsmanship and defeated Chitral by seven goals to three, clinching the championship title.

The special guest of the final match was Corps Commander Peshawar, Lieutenant General Omar Ahmed Bukhari, who witnessed the exciting encounter and various cultural performances.

Thousands of spectators from different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan attended the event, reflecting its widespread appeal. The festival showcased rich cultural colors, including Chitrali dance, traditional folk dances, and musical performances that captivated the audience.

A magnificent demonstration of the traditional game of javelin throwing was also presented. As per tradition, the SSG Shahbaz team of the Pakistan Army performed spectacular free-fall jumps, earning loud applause from the spectators. Traditional dances from various regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa further added to the festive atmosphere.

Corps Commander Peshawar distributed prizes among the players and appreciated the successful organization of the festival. He stated that such activities play a vital role in promoting national culture, encouraging positive youth engagement, and strengthening regional harmony.

On the occasion, the public enthusiastically raised slogans in favor of the Pakistan Army, expressing solidarity and appreciation.
