PESHAWAR: The Inter-Club Kabaddi Tournament got underway in Peshawar as part of the Independence Day Sports Festival, featuring teams from various kabaddi clubs across the city. The tournament was formally inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance) Asghar Sherani.
The event is being organized under the auspices of the Regional Sports Officer (RSO) Peshawar as part of the ongoing Independence Day Sports Gala at Tehmas Khan Football Stadium. Following the football event, the inter-club kabaddi competition was also launched to provide local players with an opportunity to showcase their talent.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by RSO Peshawar Ahmad Zaman, President of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Kabaddi Association Arbab Naseer Ahmad Khan, Secretary Syed Sultan Bari, players, officials and a large number of sports enthusiasts.
Asghar Sherani officially inaugurated the tournament and appreciated the players for their enthusiasm, competitive spirit and sporting talent. He said that such sporting competitions provide young athletes with opportunities to demonstrate their abilities while encouraging them to engage in healthy and constructive activities.

In the opening match, Khazana faced Musa Zai in an exciting contest. Khazana emerged victorious by a narrow margin of two points, scoring 30 points against Musa Zai’s 28.
The second match saw an entertaining encounter between Sori Zai and Sheikh Muhammadi. Sori Zai secured a convincing 30-25 victory to advance in the competition.
The tournament has brought together both emerging and experienced players from different kabaddi clubs in Peshawar, giving young athletes a valuable platform to display their skills and gain competitive experience.
According to the organizers, the competition is expected to become even more exciting as it progresses towards the semi-finals and final, where spectators will witness intense and closely contested matches.

The Independence Day Sports Gala is being viewed as a positive initiative aimed at promoting sports among young people while celebrating the spirit and joy of Pakistan’s Independence Day through healthy sporting activities.
