PESHAWAR:In an extraordinary act of human compassion and courage, the family of 14-year-old Jawad, son of Noordad, hailing from Rustam village in Mardan, voluntarily donated his organs following his declaration of brain death at Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC).
Jawad, a bright student of 9th Grade, had suffered severe head injuries in a road traffic accident a few days ago and was transferred to Peshawar due to the critical nature of his injuries. He was admitted to the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at HMC, where he was managed by a dedicated team of neurosurgeons and critical care specialists. Despite all efforts, the medical team concluded that Jawad had suffered irreversible brain damage, and he was formally declared brain dead in accordance with national medical and legal criteria.

Upon being informed, the family—particularly his father and uncle—demonstrated exceptional grace, courage, and humanity, and volunteered to donate his organs for the benefit of others. This landmark decision was communicated to the Medical Transplant Regulatory Authority (MTRA) by HMC administration without delay.

All legal, ethical, and procedural formalities were duly fulfilled. The organs were swiftly transferred for transplantation in prospective patients a respective institutes.
