Swabi: Wasif Anis, Deputy Auditor and Deputy Registrar at Women University Swabi, has successfully earned his PhD from University of Peshawar under the supervision of Professor Dr. Mumtaz Hussain Shah.
The external examiners for his doctoral research included Professor Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Khan and Assistant Professor Zahid Ullah, who evaluated the thesis and approved it after a comprehensive review process.
The title of his doctoral research was:
“Recent Provisions in Bilateral Investment Treaties and Foreign Direct Investment: A Study of Emerging Asian Economies (1985–2021)”.
The study presents an in-depth analysis of the evolving provisions in Bilateral Investment Treaties (BITs) and their impact on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows. It offers a comparative assessment of emerging Asian economies spanning the period from 1985 to 2021. The research scientifically evaluates key dimensions such as investor protection clauses, dispute resolution mechanisms, treaty modernization trends, and their correlation with economic development and FDI performance.
By integrating empirical data with legal and economic analysis, the dissertation contributes to contemporary policy discourse on international investment law and development economics, particularly within the context of emerging Asian markets.
