ISLAMABAD: President of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), General Muhammad Humayun, held an important meeting with Chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Finance, Naveed Qamar, to discuss the current political and economic situation in the country.
During the meeting, both leaders exchanged views on pressing domestic issues, with a particular focus on the energy crisis and fiscal challenges. A key part of the discussion centered around the electricity supply and its impact on the lives of citizens in the Malakand region.

Naveed Qamar provided a detailed briefing on the national tax budget and financial policies, while Humayun Khan highlighted the hardships faced by the people of Malakand. He emphasized that the region, already suffering from poverty and the aftermath of severe floods, cannot bear additional tax burdens.
Humayun Khan advocated for a more equitable tax distribution and stressed the need to provide immediate tax relief to the residents of Malakand. He noted that many people in the area are already victims of displacement and poor infrastructure, and any further economic pressure could worsen their living conditions.
“The people of Malakand have endured long-standing challenges, from natural disasters to economic neglect. It is our responsibility to ease their burden, not increase it,” said Humayun Khan.

The meeting concluded with a formal request to consider tax exemptions or relief for Malakand in the upcoming fiscal policy discussions.
